5.2.1   Fixed and moving blades — details and construction

Although called 'reaction', these stages in fact employ equal degrees of impulse and reaction, resulting in the fixed and moving blades being of identical section. This type of blading was designed and developed by Sir Charles Parsons and lends itself to economical production of blades from standard rolled sections.
