4  Environmental considerations


In addition to the physical size and arrangement of the condenser relative to the turbine, another very important consideration which has a direct bearing on the condenser design adopted is the effect of the environment.

Of major concern here is the cooling water quality, and also the choice of suitable constructional ma­terials to prevent premature corrosion and erosion of plant components, due to dissolved and suspended solids, respectively.
